Your safety on Lamp

Dating should feel exciting, not risky. Here’s how Lamp is designed to protect you, and how you can look after yourself when you take a conversation into the real world.

How Lamp protects you

Safety built into the product

Real people, real profiles

Lamp is built around genuine connection, so we work to keep the community made up of real people. Our community standards prohibit impersonation, stolen photos, and fake profiles, and accounts that break them can be removed.

AI moderation of photos and messages

Automated moderation reviews profile content and messages for material that violates our guidelines — harassment, explicit content, and abuse. Automated systems aren't perfect, so they're backed up by human review before action is taken on an account.

Block, unmatch, and report — any time

You're always in control of who can reach you. You can unmatch, block, and report from within a conversation. Reports go to our moderation team, and blocking immediately stops someone from seeing your profile or contacting you.

Your data and your privacy

We're transparent about what we collect and why. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app.

Read more about how we handle your information in our Privacy Policy.

Safe-dating tips

Meeting someone new, safely

A little preparation goes a long way. These habits are recommended by dating-safety experts and are worth keeping for every first meeting — on Lamp or anywhere else.

Keep personal details private at first

There's no rush to share your home address, workplace, financial details, or daily routine. Keep early conversations on Lamp rather than moving to other apps too quickly, and never send money to someone you haven't met.

Watch for the signs of a romance scam

Be cautious of anyone who professes strong feelings unusually fast, avoids video calls or meeting in person, has a story that keeps shifting, or eventually asks for money, gift cards, or help with an "investment." These are classic red flags reported across the UK and US.

Try a video call before you meet

A quick video chat is a low-pressure way to confirm someone is who they say they are and to see whether the conversation flows in real life. If someone repeatedly refuses, treat that as information.

Meet in public, and make your own way there

For a first date, choose a busy public place, arrange your own transport there and back, and don't rely on your date for a lift. Stay sober enough to keep your wits about you and keep an eye on your drink.

Tell a friend where you'll be

Let someone you trust know who you're meeting, where, and when you expect to be home. Share your live location with them for the evening, and agree on a check-in time.

Trust your instincts

If something feels off — in a message or on a date — you don't owe anyone an explanation. Leave, block, and report. Your comfort matters more than being polite.
